Bad Weather!

I am sitting up at 11:30pm watching the weather making sure that I don't go to sleep if bad weather is going to hit while we are sleeping. It starting storming with pouring down rain this morning at 7am and it has not stopped raining all day today. The rain let up here and there but it has caused a lot of flooding throughout middle Tennessee. This morning I had planned to go get my dress for Drew's wedding altered and I really don't have another time to do it before it gets too late so I needed to do it. I decided at the last minute, however, to take Kennedy over to Debbie's house instead of taking her out with me because of the weather. I am glad I did because i got worse while I was gone. On my way home the interstates started to hold a lot of water and the traffic was moving about 30mph and we were hydroplaning often. From then on the flooding kept getting worse. It actually turned into all of the interstates being shut down and the water was over the cars on the interstate and a lot of the side streets here by the house.

I decided since I am awake, I will just catch up on putting pictures up on the blog. I had one of my busiest weeks this week. Monday and Tuesday I traveled to Bowling Green with our doctors and so I was gone from the house 12 hours or more Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday I was home most of the day but had a lot of catching up to do. Yesterday back in the clinic but home early so we got to catch up a little bit over the last couple of days.

Kennedy has been a drool monster lately and up until just today that was it. She was real fussy this morning and early afternoon and she didn't want anything except for to be chewing on her burp cloth with my finger in there and that only kept her happy for a few minutes. After a couple hours of not knowing what to do to make my poor little baby happy, we decided to follow Pats advice and let her suck on a pretzel for a few minutes. SHE LOVED IT! I know it might not have been the best thing for her and I am sure there are plenty of people who disagree with giving it to her this young. But, it worked and that is what mattered.

Easter at Uncle Alan's

Last weekend we went to Alan's house in Peoria to help him start remodeling his bathroom and we also got to have Kennedy's first Easter there too. Kennedy was a really good girl in the car the whole way and the puppies were too. This was the first time that the dogs got to ride in the car with Kennedy and it was for a 7 hour drive so it all worked out really good. Riley rode in the back with me and Kennedy and Shirley rode in the front with Tom as co-pilot.

Kennedy's first Easter Basket! She got an egg with$5, some books and some really cute summer outfits. She is such a spoiled baby, but she loves it!

She loves that thumb! It's really cute right now. I just hope we are not trying to break her of it when she 15! :)

She loves the Cubbies! We got to go to her first baseball game today. Everything at my high school got done really early today so I decided to take Kennedy to a baseball game over at FRA where I used to be an athletic trainer. Everyone there was so excited to see us and just thought Kennedy was the cutest little girl, of course!

I finally got the camera unpacked today! I decided to take lots of pictures today to make up for lost time. Kennedy is still changing every single day! She is still smiling all the time and she is sooooo close to laughing. She is still sucking them in and doing her little squeals but as soon as she learns to blow them out she will be laughing all the time.

So I kinda feel like a bad mom... I haven't taken a picture of Kennedy in over a week. We have been so busy lately I barely have time to do the little bit that I have been doing. I have just been plain tired! Last week I spent trying to catch up from the week before doing cooking (not much), cleaning (not much) and working (a lot!) and also trying to get us ready to go to Peoria for the weekend to meet up with Mom, Dad, Alan and Drew. It was a weekend filled with bathroom remodeling, yeah! So there were several pictures taken over last weekend, but none with our camera. I have tried to get Alan to email me some of his but I haven't gotten them yet so I am just writing instead. Mom took a bunch but I keep forgetting to ask her for them. I really need to go get my camera out and take some pictures of my own.

I have found myself this week in a whirlwind of emotions. I think it always happens after I get to see my family. It reminds me of how much I miss being close to them and how much I would like to get back home. Also last week on Thursday when I picked up Kennedy from her babysitter, she actually cried when I got there. She was perfectly content with Debbie and when she saw me, her lip went out and she started crying... I thought maybe she just wanted me to hold her so I took her and the crying became wailing and it didn't stop until I turned her around so she could see Debbie again, then which she immediately stopped crying and started smiling. Tell me that doesn't break your heart! Maybe it was a fluke but it sure didn't seem like one and it took everything for me not to start crying right there and call and quit my job on the spot. I wish I could be okay with leaving her everyday, but everyday when I walk out the door the only thing I can think about until I get home is her. I am sure that I am not the only mom who works that feels this way. I think (hope) things will be better when this summer comes and I only have to work 20 hours a week. Until then, I will just make the most of the time I get to spend with her and hope I figure out a system to be more organized and to use some time management to get everything done around the house .

Puppies help with bath time...

Yesterday morning for bath time, the puppies decided that I might need a little help to make sure that Kennedy got all clean. For some reason they just figured out to come in and inspect while I was giving her a bath. They have never bothered to come in there before. At first Shirley was just in there. But when Riley heard Shirley trying to drink the bath water, she came running in to check it out. When Kennedy would splash around, Shirley and Riley would get all excited and start wagging their tails. It was really cute!

Thumb Sucker

Kennedy found her thumb a few weeks ago and has been working on figuring out how to suck on it since. She has been able to get it for just a few seconds at a time, then she loses it and then settles for her whole fist. Tonight after bath time she was so sleepy and waiting for me to fix her bottle she had to soothe herself. She actually put herself to sleep without supper so I had to end up waking her up to eat.

A beautiful weekend

I feel like I am getting bad at keeping up with this blog. Things are just really busy now that I have started back at work. Last week I had computer training all week long. I am not used to getting up early everyday and working a full day everyday. Everyday last week, I left the house around 7 and got home around 5. I was really sad about how much time I was able to see Kennedy. She has been sleeping through the night now for the most part so she was still sleeping when I got home and she was ready for her bath, bottle and bed pretty much when I got home. I pretty much only saw her about 2 hours a day. Boo! I saw Tom even less. He was still asleep when I left every morning and I was asleep when he got home every night.

This weekend was great for catching up with both Tom and Kennedy. Saturday we went and got Kennedy's 3 month pictures taken. I can't believe how fast time is going right now. It seems like I just had her yesterday and now she is 3 months old! We stopped and got some food for the grill on the way home and dropped it off and picked up the dogs. We took Kennedy for her first walk at the park with the dogs. We went 3 miles and I was beat by the time we got back. When we got home we grilled and then just hung out for the rest of the night.

Sunday we went to 8am Easter mass and then we spent the majority of the rest of the day on yard work and house cleaning. After we got all of our work done we grilled out again and got the pool out for the dogs and hung out in the backyard until it got a little chilly and we had to go inside.
