Army Baby!

Tom had his first Reserves weekend in Iowa. He started at a new unit in Des Moines this weekend. We decided to spend the night in Colo Friday night so that Tom wouldn't have to drive all the way from Hampton very early Saturday morning. We took the opportunity to go out to dinner with a friend of Tom's from work and let Aunt Marcy babysit Kennedy while we were gone. Kennedy and Aunt Marcy and Uncle Dean had such a good time playing together. She only missed us a little bit. Tom got home around 6pm tonight, so much earlier than when he was going down to Birmingham, AL. Kennedy wore her Army outfit too so she could look just like daddy when he got home.

Army Daddy, Army Baby!

Super-Army-Baby! AHHHHHHHH!

How precious!

September 9, 2010... Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Tom had to get up and go to work early on his birthday and to make matters worse, it was a Thursday so he had to work 2.5 hours overtime! Kennedy was sweet enough to stay up to give him a birthday kiss and give him his card that she wrote for him. He was so surprised to see her and even more surprised that she even wrote on the card for him.

Kennedy was so proud to give her daddy his birthday card!
He even got a dollar to buy a peanut butter cup!

Happy Birthday to the best Daddy EVER!

Kennedy told me that says...
"Dear Daddy, I love you very much and you make me smile every day. I hope you have a good birthday, Love Kennedy"

Thanks Kennedy for my awesome birthday card.

Funny Face night

Kennedy is developing quite the personality. Cute and spoiled... what a combination! She is constantly trying to talk and actually carry on a conversation with you. If only we knew what she was thinking and trying to say :)

Playing with her rubber duckies in the tub.

Giving the ducky kisses... How sweet!

Oh, the many faces. Of course the camera wasn't fast enough to get the really good ones. Boy did she have some funny ones, and the more we laughed the better they got!

Look at those teeth. She has five now... Two on the bottom and three on top... She's working on a sixth too!

Labor Day!

Monday morning everyone was tired. Kennedy and I got up early of course to play but everyone else slept in. Once everyone woke up (Jimmy and Tammy spent the night) I cooked some breakfast and we just hung out all afternoon. We headed home after lunch so Kennedy could start the trip by taking her nap in the car.

Nap time... Such a comfy daddy!

Hmmm... How do you suppose I climb up on this thing?

Save me Grandma! I've fallen and I can't get up! :)
(She didn't fall out of the stroller, she was sitting next to it and tipped over)

Time to say goodbye :( Love you Grandma!

We had such a good time, but were so busy all weekend that the time just flew by. We were all exhausted by the time we left. Kennedy slept most of the way home. We did make a quick pit stop at the I-80 truck stop to have dinner with Drew and Kendra and then back on the road. We made it back to Mom and Dad's by 8:30.

So many new people to meet!

Sunday we had a long fun day of having people stop by to meet Kennedy. This was her first trip to Chicago so everyone was very excited to finally get to see her.

Aunt Mary stopped by just after lunch. This is her Grandpa Donohoe's sister.

Here's Aunt Ruthie, Grandma Pat's cousin, she's the one that made those awesome burpie clothes and crocheted her really pretty blankie. Uncle Jim came with too.

There's crazy Aunt Kathy! :) She brought some rubber duckies, a stuffed pink dalmatian and some baby cookies! Kennedy had a good time eating those cookies and making a mess of Kathy's shirt.

Kathy's girls, Kelly and Katie with Kennedy's cousin, Ryan.

Tom really enjoyed hanging out with his old friends from the neighborhood. Telling stories with Bobby and Mo.

Jimmy and Tammy brought a birthday cake for Tom, so we got to celebrate his birthday with his family. Tom was very surprised.

Bobby and Mo's little boy, Joey. These two really enjoyed each other all afternoon. Kennedy even got some kisses and for some reason, Joey liked to kiss her toes too!

Mike brought Ryan over, he was a little...well a lot late... but at least we got to see them. Lisa couldn't make it because she had to work but she sent along some pretty new outfits for Kennedy to wear. Aunt Eileen also came back. She came to see us on Saturday too with a bunch of new clothes for Kennedy. It was nice to get to see her twice.

Labor Day weekend at Grandma's house

Over Labor Day weekend we made a long over due trip to Chicago to visit Grandma Donohoe. It has been since February since they have seen each other so we were all excited to finally get there Friday night. Once we got there we sat Kennedy down next to Grandma and Pat said her name really loud and Kennedy just started laughing harder than I have ever hear her laugh before and it continued for about 5 minutes. Tom and I almost peed our pants we were laughing so much. We stayed up a little bit to chat but everyone was so tired we had to get to bed.

Saturday morning Kennedy got up early to play with Grandma while Tom and I slept in a little bit. After a little while we were noticing quite a commotion in the kitchen so we decided to see what it was all about. Grandma and Kennedy were having quite a good time with breakfast. Kennedy skipped her bottle and decided to have coffee cake with Grandma and some apple juice. Grandma decided that wasn't enough so she got a wafer cookie and some gum drops too! Mommy was not exactly happy about all the new sugary foods but I had to give in...

After breakfast playtime. Grandma stuck you in that basket but you thought it was pretty neat.

All dressed up in the outfit Grandma got her and of course... Gotta try a dum dum. Mmmm, yummy!

For lunch... Cheese explosion Easy Mac, double fisted sweet pickles and a glass of apple juice. Thanks for the belly ache, Grandma! That was a fun diaper to change two days later. It looked like she caught worms! Gross!

Congratulations, Alan and Cate!

The Monday before Labor Day, Alan proposed to his girlfriend, Cate. We are so excited to have Cate join our family! She has been so good for Alan and she fits right into the Kaufman mix. They are finalizing all of their wedding plans very quickly! Alan came up the Friday of Labor day to put a deposit down on a church and a reception hall in Ames. So, that's a double bonus. We get to go to a wedding next May and we don't have to travel a long ways with two babies. (Yes, two babies, this is the first time I have mentioned on my blog that I am pregnant again, 15 weeks pregnant to be exact... belly pictures to come) Tom, Kennedy and I were at Grandma Kaufman's waiting to leave to go to Chicago for the weekend so Mom and Alan stopped by to see Kennedy while they were passing through.

I don't know who is more excited to play, Alan or Kennedy!

So much fun to play.

All that playing makes me hungry! Thanks for lunch Uncle Alan!
