Ahhh, Friday...

Tom had a very productive day today. He got up at 5 this morning and went to the gym and worked out and ran 5 miles. He came home and cleaned the kitchen then went to the grocery store, walked the dogs and still had time to cuddle with the baby before he left for work at 11:00. He was such a super daddy today.

I enjoyed the day. I got to sleep in a little bit thanks to Kennedy sleeping well last night. I didn't even hear Tom leave. I thought when he came home that he was just leaving... Things are going good with Kennedy. She is getting used to a "kind of" schedule. The only problem that I am having right now is sore nipples. I can't wait to get past this part! If this wasn't the best thing for her nutrition and health I would have quit by now. Hopefully it is like everyone has told me and the first 2 weeks are the worst and it will be better soon.

So tired!!! Getting ready to be swaddled for nap time.

Snug as a bug!! Sleep tight, baby Kennedy.

Time is flying by.

Time went by so fast today. I can't believe the day is almost over. Kennedy was pretty good today despite last night. She had a pretty rough time getting to bed after her last feeding. It took until almost 3 am to get her settled and asleep. Today I was able to keep her awake twice for over an hour so hopefully that will help. I also called a good friend of ours, Roman and Jenny, who have a 3 month old and got some good advice from them on how to cope...
She was getting a little cranky before I took this picture and she didn't really appreciate the flash in her eyes, but it was getting late and realized that I hadn't done the blog yet.

Rainy Day.

Today was a very gloomy and rainy day. It was about 60 degrees and we had thunderstorms most of the day. It's not like I was actually going to go outside and do anything, but it meant that the dogs wouldn't be going outside much today. They went for a walk with Tom when it stopped raining a little before he left for work at noon and then they didn't go back out until 6:30 and then again just a few minutes ago. Needless to say, they were a bit stir crazy. Luckily I was able to settle them down with a couple of chewy bones for a while.

Kennedy and I just hung out most of the day. We have had a bit of bad luck with the diaper changing lately though. I have been peed and pooped on more in the past two days than I ever thought possible. I am working on the mastery of the quick change of the dirty to clean diaper but she still seems to know the exact millisecond that there is no diaper under her... Kind of funny if you were looking over my shoulder but I have not thought it was too funny yet. I am sure I will someday.

Kennedy likes her alone time in the swing. Doesn't she look so cute and comfy.

Last night my computer was being a little cranky with publishing the blog. I actually typed it up twice and it lost it twice. I decided I did not want to go for a third, so I am catching up this morning. Yesterday was Kennedy's one week birthday. I can't believe how fast a week goes by and how much she has already changed. Her features are becoming more pronounced now and she is starting to fill out some too. She just keeps getting cuter by the day!

Yesterday was also the day that Grandpa and Grandma had to leave to go back to Iowa. The week went by really fast for them too. It was so nice having them here with us this week to help out and to be a part of all of it. There were so many wonderful first moments that we all got to share together. They were such a big help with Kennedy and around the house. I am sure that we could have done it without them but it would have been so much more difficult. It was really sad to see them leave but with Skype and hopefully a visit at the end of February they won't be missing out on too much. We miss them already.

Daddy's first day back at work.

Today, Tom had to go to work for his first official day at the lab. He had to go in the morning to fill out all the HR paperwork and then spent some time working in the lab too. Mom, Dad and I just spent the day hanging out with Kennedy. Dad actually put in the garbage disposal that they didn't get to last night after the dishwasher. Kennedy was a good girl today. She slept a lot today but we got some wake time to cuddle too.

Daddy saying goodbye to Kennedy for the day. When he got home he went right to her and gave her lots of kisses and cuddles that he missed out on today. He said that he thought a lot about her today and how she was doing.

Riley has been really good with the baby. She is very interested and always wants to make sure that she is doing okay. She gets a little grumpy and Riley has a look of concern. Aren't they cute!!

Mommy and Kennedy. I haven't got to hold her much besides her feedings so there has not been many pictures of me with her. Oh... I just love her soooo much!

We can't forget Shirley. Although she ignores her most of the day she still enjoys being around her too. Doesn't she look like a proud sister???

Grandpa's Cuddle Time

I don't know why but Picasa will only let me blog 4 pictures at once and I tried to add this one to the bottom of the blog when I was editing it and since it is an upright picture it would only let me attach it through my pictures sideways. So, I couldn't leave out the Grandpa picture from today. He was busy most of the day running errands with Mom and helping Tom put together the dishwasher so he did not get much Kennedy time at all. He is making up for it tonight. He has got to cuddle her a lot after dinner and Kennedy is just soaking it up. She is definitely a Grandpa's Girl!!!

Kennedy's first rough night and first mail...

Last night was a little rough. She had been up a lot yesterday and actually fed a lot too. When it was time for her last feeding last night she pretty much did not feel good when it was time to go to sleep. She must have had gas bubbles because she was screaming for about an hour and a half. It was just breaking Tom and my hearts because we could not figure out how to make her better. We finally remembered that Jenny and Roman had given us gas medicine and after looking it up online I gave her a little bit and then nursed her for a minute and let her rock and burp and fall asleep again... And then ever so gently swaddled her in her wedge sleeper mat and she calmed down and settled off to sleep. I still slept in the room with her so that I could be there if she got fussy or didn't feel good again, but she was fine the rest of the night. She nursed around 4:15 and again at 7:15 and has been a good baby all day today.

We forgot to check the mail yesterday because when the mail lady came she delivered a package to Tom and me. It was from Ruthie and Jim and Ruthie made Kennedy a beautiful crocheted blanket. I haven't taken a picture of it but it is adorable. It along with all of our other gifts have been addressed to Tom or me or both. Well this time, she got her first mail addressed to her!!

Her first package, sent to her from her Uncle Drew.

She got her first tractor shirt! And she loves it... Thanks, Uncle Drew!

Tom and Dad putting in the new dishwasher. Our old one went out on us last week. Smoke coming out of it and all. We got a real good deal on it at Home Depot, floor model and Tom's military discount and we saved $160! We also got a new garbage disposal because that went out 2 days before the dishwasher...
