One Year Check Up

Kennedy had her one year check up with Dr. Swanson on January 20th. He says she is just perfect. I could have told you that. He also says she is very smart for her age. He was quite impressed with her vocabulary and her walking. She was very inquisitive with him asking him "what's that" to all of his equipment and telling him his stethoscope was "pretty"

He was concerned with the amount of teeth that she had for a one year old and that her two big front teeth were still yellow. He decided to send her to the dentist. Overall the checkup was great even though she had to have 5 shots and have her blood drawn. She is such a trooper.

The dentist visit was the following Thursday and she did great there too. We even practiced opening her mouth wide for the dentist and saying ahhhh. We have Grandma to thank for teaching her that. She was so cute, even though the only time she did it was when the dentist wasn't looking at her. She did it for the receptionist and the dentist's wife though. It turns out that she was born with no enamel on those teeth and she will just have to have regular dental visits and eventually have a coating put on her teeth to prevent cavities.

Asleep for the first time at Grandma's without being rocked.
She fell asleep cuddling her Violet. How cute!
She has been doing a great job going to bed on her own. I really think that she rests better and wakes up better this way. It took a week or two to get it down but now she typically goes down without a fight.

Snow Day with Daddy

Kennedy's first sled adventure.

We haven't had too many "warm" days yet this winter so Kennedy hasn't been able to get out in the fresh air much. Grandma and Grandpa Kaufman got her a sled for Christmas that is made just her size so we took her out to play. She had a good time but it was still pretty cold so she couldn't stay out long.

Having a blast with Daddy. Check out those matching hats.

Enough of the sled. Carry me Please!

Kennedy's 1st Hair Cut!

Well... She now that she has passed her first birthday we decided that today was the day that we were going to do something about Kennedy's hair. She was born with a decent amount of hair but unfortunately most of it fell out. The hair behind her ears never did and it has always been much longer than the rest of her hair. I think that it is cute but not everyone agrees with me. See, the long stuff doesn't always curl and the rest does, so it makes for interesting hair days. Hopefully now that it is starting to come in thicker at least it will all be, for the most part, the same length.

Before

After

After.

We cut about an inch off in some spots, mostly right behind her ears. She wasn't a big fan of having to stay still so she shed a couple of tears, but she is all over it now and she still looks very cute!

Kennedy's 1st Birthday Party!

January 15, 2011

We had Kennedy's 1st birthday party and Grandma and Grandpa Kaufman's house. I made mosticholli, salad and garlic bread and of course we had cake and ice cream. So many people came over to celebrate with Kennedy. Great-Grandma Kaufman, Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Kennedy, Marcy and Dean, Donna, Jewel and Sara, Steve, Joy, Lilly and Daisy, Ken, Alan and Cate and Drew and Kendra. Kimmy, James and Gwyn didn't make it for the party but they were able to get here a little later and spend the rest of the weekend with us.

the Puppy Cake and the Big Cup Cake.
Mommy and Grandma worked very hard to make these all week.

"Thanks everyone! This is so much fun, I love CAKE!"

Daddy smashed her face in the cake!

She got so many presents. What a loved little girl.

Happy Birthday Kennedy!

Kennedy's 1st Birthday

It's been quite a year and I just can't believe how much has changed in our lives since our little girl was born. Not only have we had a lot of changes with us but I can't believe how much Kennedy has changed as well. She has gone from a little helpless infant to a independent little toddler in no time at all. I can only imagine what life will be like in another year. What an exciting time!

Birthday dinner... Meatloaf, cheesy potatoes and green beans. Yum, Yum!

Kennedy's first Birthday Cake! Oooo! She wants that bad!

Yummy Cake!

What a good little girl. Sharing with Daddy!

More Christmas!

January 1st, 2011: Evening

After we wrapped up our family Christmas it was time to get ready for the whole Kaufman Crew to come over for Christmas that evening. We made the soup the night before so all we had to do was clean up and get the soups on the stove to warm up. It still took quite a while but at least we were a little prepared. Grandma, Steve, Donna and Lindsey, Dave, Lisa and Sydni, Marcy, Dean, Abby, Dave, Andi and Dane all came over to celebrate.

So many presents to open! She has so many people that love her so much.
We had such a good time.

The Kaufman Christmas.

January 1st, 2011
Happy Birthday to ME!

We had Christmas with Mom and Dad, Alan and Cate and Drew and Kendra the Saturday after Christmas which just happened to be my birthday too. I got up early to start cooking the Christmas Brunch for everyone so that it would be ready after we had our Christmas celebration. I got it done just in time to start the Christmas Extravaganza!

Kennedy is all ready for some present opening!

Silly Daddy, putting bows on Kennedy's head!

Opening her present with Aunt Kendra.

Thanks Uncle Alan and Aunt Cate!

A New Year's / Christmas Brunch.

Resting up for another big Christmas with the whole Kaufman family in the evening.

the Christmas continues

December 31, 2010

Kennedy has so many presents to open that it is getting spread out throughout a period of about 2 weeks. Tom and I decided that since we would be having another family Christmas with the Kaufman side on New Years Day that we would have Kennedy open the rest of her presents that Santa brought her on Christmas Eve.

Pushing her Baby Stroller. She did not want a baby in it though.

She would much rather play with ribbon than her toys.

Daddy and Kennedy have some kind of inside joke going on.
